2007 Mk7 starting problem

Evening all,

After a little advice/help. Last year the van started to get a little laboured when starting, put it down to battery on its way out but thought I’ll live it with until it gets worse as not bad really. It’s never got any worse (strange enough) sometimes starts no problem other that little bit of laboured start.

Twice in the last few weeks have encountered a different problem. Start up no problem, stop somewhere, switch off get out come back few mins later go to start and it’s like flat battery. First time was convinced that battery was gone but then after 3/4 attempts it fired again like nothing had happened, usually left it haha. Then tonight same again, sat since Monday, fired up a little laboured, drove 30 mins, stopped, got back in 5 mins later like flat battery, 3/4 attempts later fires like no problem. I’m thinking bad earth? But what earth to check? Or any other input?

earth from starter to chassis and the battery earth to the floor

clean them both

other then that you have a lazy starter motor

If battery is ok, and battery terminals are tight, try Changing ignition switch
