2014 14 seat mini bus ad-blue problem

Postby vampirequeen » Wed Dec 06, 2017 12:59 pm

We don't trust the garage that the minibus is taken to for repairs, services etc. Things go wrong and it takes them ages to find the problem. Then when they do deal with it something else goes wrong. In the last few months they've rebooted the software on several occasions, replaced the auxiliary battery and the alternator. We wanted to take it to our local man but apparently the Community Centre which owns the bus has a service agreement with the local Ford dealership. We've got used to all sorts of weird excuses and explanations but today's seems so weird we thought we'd ask our friends on here.

The latest problem has been with the ad-blue sensor. It was working fine then they replaced the alternator which they said was broken. When we got it back the ad-blue alarm warned that the tank needed filling. We thought it was odd but filled the tank. The sensor still warned there was only 236 miles left. Another driver also tried to fill the tank so in the end it was overflowing. The sensor still showed 236 miles. We were going to cancel a trip on Monday but Ford said we'd be fine as long as we didn't let the engine stop once the ad-blue ran out. So with some trepidation we did that and kept the engine running because we were terrified it cut out whilst we had 10 grannies in the back. We left the mini bus at the Ford garage. Today we went to collect it and were told that as the ad-blue tank was only half full (we know it was over full if anything) the sensor couldn't read the amount properly and we needed to do a driver reset. Apparently a driver reset means driving the minibus for as long as it takes until the sensor reports 0 miles left. But how could you do this if 0 miles means no restart? Is this true or are Ford fobbing us off again.
