How do I Tell if my starter motor is packing in?

Postby Pikeonhisbike » Sat Dec 09, 2017 9:32 pm

Hello.. Iv recently gone through a long process of ilimination buying parts trying to get my van started, Whitch involved alot of me turning the engine over.. Now it starts but it's turn over is very slow and sometimes it doesn't turn over it just ticks.... It's not my battery as I just brought a brand new one.... Could this be the starter motor giving up? Cheers pike

Wasnt there something about the ignition switch contacts causing this sort of trouble, mine sometimes turns over slowly but if I move the key slightly it is ok.

I guess I will just have to replace the ignition switch and the starter.. Starting with the cheapest, hopefully that will sort it... Im guna have a brand new van soon the amount of bits ov bought for it... And she's not even pretty, She looks like she's been rolled.....twice... haha
