2018 transit towing capacity power stroke versus ecoboost

I'm planning a purchase and can't get an answer as to the following: Why does the 2018 transit, with power stroke diesel drivetrain, have a higher towing capacity than the ecoboost version? It's peculiar as the ecoboost has more torque and hp.

I cannot get a straight answer from the dealer...as of yet.

Is the transmission/drivetrain the same for both...if not, it might be the limiting factor??

Possibly something to do with the ridiculously tall diff ratios the EcoBoost motors will be lumbered with.
