Hi!
I have a 2009 Transit Tipper - 115 T350.
I don't drive it regularly so often it needs recharged after which it runs fine / starts fine. What I have noticed though when I go through the process to get it running is that for a short while I need to hold the key in the start position or it will cut out straight away. This usually passes when the engine has warmed a little and there is no more problem.
Until today.
Same process as above, got engine running left it going for a few mins and turned it off. Now despite the battery being well charged (overnight trickle) it won't run at all unless I am holding the key in the start position. I can hear/feel the connection clicking when I back off the pressure on the key even a fraction.
A call to the main dealer indicates that the ignition barrel might be the problem, the local garage says they can't do that because "problems". How do I get my van 25 miles to the main dealer! Is there a temp fix for this??
Originally I thought it might also be something to do with the charge in the key itself but there seems no problem locking/unlocking the vehicle.
All help appreciated
