2008,Transit power steering pump plunger

HI guys
I've just changed the pipe from power steering pump to steering rack on my 2008 transit 2.2tdci, when taking the union nut off at the pump end,the big nut it screws into came off as the smaller one was rusted in.
as I removed the large nut a plunger and spring fell out,does anyone know the correct way to refit these? plunger first then spring against the nut? spring first?
I've never done any work to my van before and don't want to get it wrong.
