Help. MK6 2l FWD misfiring and smoking intermittently

Help please Transit fans.

Started her up for work this morning headed off along the road and the engine lost power wouldn't rev and it was chucking out huge amounts of whiteish blue smoke. I parked up to consider my options and then decided to re-start her - no problem - running smoothly and after a minute or two smoke cleared. No problems for the rest of the day. I think she was temporarily running on 3 cylinders. Might this be an un-syncronised injector/ecu problem? Faulty glow plug? No fault code apparent.

Anyone experienced the same problem? Should I be worried?

Ye just gotta tame the beast

When it smoked like crazy I bet it knocked like a bailiff and the coil light was flashing, the white smoke is unburnt fuel.

My van did it before Christmas when it was bloody freezing, its not done it since, I don't know why it does it but my theory is its to remind you who's boss

Exactly the same. Coil light flashed. It was brass monkey weather this morning too. I'll relax about it until it happens again.

I think its something to do with the IMV on the pump, with the coil light flashing you will have codes stored, have them read and I bet you will have codes for IMV & fuel pressure, if is does it again just turn it off then back on and it should be OK (make sure the coil light goes out before starting) N
