04 transit 20tcdi

Postby Peter Reynolds » Tue Feb 20, 2018 6:49 pm

Hi can anybody help me ? For about a year now my o4 transit tourneo goes into limp mode when I demand plus the acceleration I'e oo long hill climbs or putting your foot down to overtake something .
I've had 4 new Delpni injectors fitted & the common rail sensor .
It's just been on diagnostic machine again & coming up with the dreaded P1211 & P0251 codes what do we change next ?
Thanks
Pete

Noooooooooo not another wonderful 666 TDCI problem

when did you have the new injectors (recently?) Did you have a new fuel filter fitted?

P1211 Injector Control Pressure Sensor Above / Below Desired
P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control A Malfunction

I don't want to be the one to upset you but be prepared to replace the fuel pump, PF Jones are reasonably priced, drain some fuel from the filter and check for swarf/metal filings.

You could (if you don't mind getting dirty) check the wiring from the pump where it passes the starter motor for breaks. N

Thanks Ned
Yea changed fuel filter no bits of metal in it . But haven't looked at fuel pump cable do that tomorrow . Bloody shame as she runs great apart from the limp thing . But strangely I can use full throttle when I first start her & drive . But only for about half a mile or so . It doesn't help living in France they have no idea unless it's a Renault or Citroen gggrrrrr

Its a messy job checking the wiring, I literally stripped the loom out and inspected each wire, 7 1/2 hour to find a small 1mm break in the wire  you could try a new inlet metering valve (IMV) on the pump, I think there about £50 and take 10 minutes to change :D

I keep a colection of spare parts in my van, 4 X injectors, 1 X IMV, starter motor, battery ect as you just never know what will go next. N

+1

It will be metering valve or worn out pump (they do wear out eventually)

Because if injection pomp is worn-out, injectors renovation can help only for short time. In Delphi tdci, if injection pump is ok and in good condition, injectors can leak back very, very much - without limp mode.
I think you have worn-out both: injectors and pomp...
Try do first injectors - not only valves, also sprayers it is good to change (only original Delphi parts). Check for metal filings in fuel in injectors.
If they are - pomp is broken, don't try start engine again. In this case, whole fuel system is for rinsing, pomp for regeneration in Delphi workshop.
