Bosch pump help please

Postby Mac1984 » Thu Feb 22, 2018 11:37 pm

Hi all,

This is one of the epic to Bosch stories again, and I've read through all the subjects as good
As I could, however i am still left with a few questions..

I am in the middle of a Bosch conversion, and I have ordered a used 145 pump online, which has
Arrived but the drive wheel has been removed from the shaft.
I don't know which way around it was installed. Can I just put in on
In trial and error or should i get it to a diesel service? I don't own a dti or any other measuring device myself, and
I don't have really any experience with Bosch pumps...

Any help more then appreciated as I try to have my smiley
Back on the road next week...fingers crossed

Cheers guys

Sorry I think I had a thinking failure at the whole thing..

Assuming I put the pump on as it is,

I have the crank and the cam wheel pinned, so I need to make the pump
Fit in a way that the pin fits in as well? If I am not mistaken, would be a full working cycle
Not 720 degrees, so 2 full turns on the pump, meaning there could be 2 possible positions the pin would fit??

Forget my previous post more or less, I just don't understand fully the undertaking of advancing and timing, and being non
English native speaker I don't fully understand everything posted here...

Thanks for your help

Is the hub still fitted to the pump shaft?

If yes, pin up and fit pulley as normal.

If no, you need to DTI the pump piston lift to time the hub accurately. Easiest to take to a Bosch agent.

Thank you for your help. There is nothing on the shaft at all unfortunately.

Ok I check with a diesel service thanks.

I still struggle to understand some things but it will be learning by doing I suppose.

I understand you have to bleed the fuel lines to the injectors, do you need to bleed pump also?

Is this the same plug as for the measurement gauge?

Thanks so much, I will update on the project.
