Fuel filter problems

Postby Jason7 » Sat Mar 10, 2018 12:25 pm

Hello. I don't have much experience in mechanics but I thought I would give it a go. I have an 1999 bannana engine in an ldv. I went to service it took the old fuel filter out and a sort of warped metal ring fell out of the housing and I don't no how it goes back in or if it is supposed to be bent like it is. Any help would be great. no

It just locks into the housing, it will be easy to understand if you remove the housing so you can see it better, but here is a picture of how it looks.

There are two types of filter fitted and thats the early type pictured  It sounds like the op has a later type .OP if you take the housing off and turn it upside down you will see how it works. The round disk should be curved .To take the pipes off squeeze the two tabs on the pipe and they will pull out :)

Cheers for the replys got it back in there I took it off so I could get a proper look. Still got a slight leak in the new fuel filter tho just drips every 20 seconds or so! I have taken it off and back on about 5 times now. It was the cheapest fuel filter at euro parts thinking maybe I should get a more expensive one to see if that will do the trick?

Have you turned the filter to engage in the notches before fitting up the locking ring?
