Axle with double hexagon type hunb nut - it must be rear axle type 34 (Timken) for Transit Mk3 or later.
But i was two different axles with double heksagon hub nut. In years 1989 - 1991 nut was for socket size 50 mm and nut was secured by staking the locking tab by punch - this axle has smaller wheel gauge. Later after 1991 nut need socket is 2 1/4 inch and is selfocking - axle has bigger wheel gauge.

Early axles in yersar 1986-1989 nut was round and slotted in four points.

Timken has four ratios: 3.9, 4.11, 4.56 and 5.14.

It is big chance for exchangeability, but: drums in Timken pre-1991 model year (Mk3) are 228,6 mm diameter (9"), 1991 model year onwards (Mk4/5) drums are 254 mm diameter (10"). Width is also different.
In Mk1/2 Transits was used both size drums, part numbers are very similar to Mk3/4/5 - only year on the number begining is different (it must be different). For example Mk1 228,6 mm 72VB-1126-AA, for Mk3 228,6 mm 87VB-1126-AA.
