Non Starter

Postby stevieb10000 » Wed Mar 14, 2018 6:44 pm

To all those real Ford Mechanics.
I have a 2.4 2008 reg MK7 I bought last july and have had nothing but problems with it and need some help.

The van was fine to start with then it would fire as soon as the key was turned but cut out after 5 to 10 seconds. The place I bought it from have had it back 3 times to sort it. They changed the starter motor, Fuel filter, Suction control valve on the back of the pump and the pressure release valve on the end of the fuel rail.
I have also put new batteries and a new MAF sensor on it before they did their bits.
When I got the van back after xmas it would start up and run but it needed to be cranked over a hell of a lot to get it to go. Now it doesn't attempt to start and I am at my wits end. I bought it to convert to a camper but have only managed 1000 miles since last july.

I should point out that I am in dispute with where I bought it from and did threaten them with small claims court then all I got back was an email from their legal advisor.
It did go to the local ford dealer who plugged it in but said it didn't show a fault

Thanks for any help guys

Further to my post it is not the back of the ignition switch.
I have changed it and it made no difference.
At the moment I am thinking glow plugs but how easy is it to test them as I have found out you have to take the inlet manifold off to change them

I can't see how poorly glow plugs would cause it to cut out :? Once it fires, they're not needed any more :|

+1..^^

When the new PRV & SCV items were fitted, did they do a full set of learns and PCM update etc...

Do you know what code reader was used at your local Ford dealer..??

An ign switch wont show a fault and that's been eliminated and a crank sensor sometimes wont show a code .Have you tried to start it with easy start :?:
