Hi fellow forumers,
Need some help and advice please...
My 55 plate transit packed up a few weeks ago and turns out to be the fuel pump is at fault.
got it scanned by a mate and the code came back as 1664.
I was looking to sell it and then this happened and now seems a shame not to repair it as its
a great van and only done 67k as it had a new engine due to previous owner not putting oil in it!
But! it obviously needs to be an "economical" repair as its not worth the circa £1000 cost for a new pump
and fitting.
I have a few mechanic mates and have been suggested to buy a second hand pump and have it coded to the ECU(?),
Ive also read about removing the EDC and sending that off for repair.
I think the van's worth about £1,300 running and therefore would be prepared to shell out £300-£400 to have it fixed
if thats do-able?
what part(s) should I be looking for?
what would your advice be?
Many thanks... missus wants it off the drive before it becomes a shed
