MIG Welding

Postby david56 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 1:02 pm

Hi, a simple question but probably loads of good answers. Could anybody tell me what the ideal gas pressure should be for mig welding body panels to my van.
The wire speed and voltage settings are on a chart.

On the guage set between 6 and 10 . Wire speed you have to play until you get it right so many variables. If liner is damadged slightly will create more drag and are the rolers tension too tight or too loose . Have a play with the speed .

For mig welding you set gas flow rate not pressure.

Flow rate needed will depend on where you are welding.
If your indoors with no draft 5l/m might be enough, outside in the wind 30 or 40 l/m might not be enough.
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small
