Postby ABA » Fri Apr 13, 2018 7:15 pm

purchased a mk 6 2 lt diesal transit just over 3 years ago run fine but throttle pedal started to stick on at about 2000 reves so purchased a brand new one from sandicliffs costs about £ 140.00 that was 2 years ago thing is the new one has started so stick at the same reves and I have to keep sticking my foot under the pedal and lifting it up to get the reves to drop down to normal surley should last more than 2 years and do fords give a guarantee and for how long is it 12 months like every body else thing is apart from the throttle pedal runs just fine but don't want to have to change it every 2 years bit expensive after awhile

I find my 6" Stilettos work nicely...the long heel keeps your foot level with the pedal.

If it is just sticking, you could try lubricating the plastic spindle. however, the plastic wears quite badly over time, due to the force being applied through it, (as you will have discovered, there is quite a hefty spring pushing back against the movement to make it feel like its actually attached to something when you press it) most common fault is momentary disconnection of the wipers from the carbon track, causing one of the three circuits to go open momentarily, its rare they just stick.

damage to the spindle and excessive side to side play can result from feet being hooked under the pedal forcing it up slightly (usually while people sit in the van eating sandwiches etc, resting feet under the pedals rather than on them, or resting beside the pedal on the whee larch pushing it slightly sideways... or as others suggested, just general dirt ingress.

They can be bought for about £60 online, and iv'e never had a problem with the cheaper ones lasting any less time. the one I change on my own van was 6 years ago and still working fine.

tryed lubricating just seemed to make it worse ended up byeing one of ebay about £ 80 sapposed to be brand new working fine at the momment will just have to wait and see
pitty you carn bye just the white triangle where the wires are pluged in there are only 3 plastic clips holding it in place cut off the clips and and prise it off with a screew driver then there would be no need to purchase the compleat pedal assembaly it takes litteraly 3 minns to swap them over i just dont want to have to bye a new one every 2/3 years i only do about 4000 miles a year
