inlet manifold

Postby kennyb11 » Fri Apr 20, 2018 10:03 pm

hi folks hope your well ,I have a 2002 mk6 jumbo transit 2.4 di duratorq engine .I rebuilt the head oct 2017 due to failed tensioner wrecking cam carrier .van runs well starts on the button but noticed some black smoke recently at high revs, plugged in code reader fault p0404 ,egr fault stripped it cleaned it cleared fault code, took inlet manifold off to clean it and noticed a lot of carbon on head inlet ports, all dry and powdery except the first port which had oily gunky residue ,would this suggest a problem with cylinder bore ? or is it possibly because its the nearest port to the egr valve. not sure if its relevant but when I start the van in the morning I leave it running for ten minutes then leave for work it has white smoke which clears after five minutes of driving ,thanks in advance for any advice
