Bluetooth pairing nightmare on 2016 Transit

Postby Polly13 » Tue Apr 24, 2018 4:03 pm

I checked out the SYNC instructions in the user manual, but it might as well have been written in Chinese. I don't even know if this van has SYNC.

I just want to pair my phone with the stereo. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, and I don't know what I'm doing differently (if anything) when it doesn't pair, compared to what I'm doing when it does.

Can anyone talk me through it slowly and clearly?

Once it has paired as long as you have Bluetooth on then it should connect automatically.

Try a different device. Does the phone 'sleep' Bluetooth if it's not paired or being used?

I am having the same issue, Our phones were paired in the van ( 1x I phone 6 & a 7 also) but the Bluetooth connection to the phones was intermittent, Now it has stopped working altogether

I have tried deleting the sync off of both phones and tried a master reset of sync in the van but still no joy, Will try disconnecting the van batteries for an hour as I read this advice on another post here on the forum

Cheers, any other advice is welcome. Thanks

in australia, the number one cause of customer complaints and warranty issues in new cars is bluetooth pairing problems haha.
After already knowing this, and when my mum got a brand new Kia Rio, i tried to sync her android phone to it, I couldnt and thought wow, we are the next suckers, it simply doesnt work.
But then i came back days later and tried again doing random things and somehow managed to find the menu i needed, but the process was actually completely unintuitive and I wouldnt be surprised at all if there is one company somewhere, responsible for all the bluetooth technology chps in cars, and they just cant make a sensible user interface chip, leading to all these peope thinking it impossible to pair their phones.
It can be incredibly frustrating, but i suggest you do as you have said disconneting the attery, but also reset the entertainment system, using the "restore to factory defaults" option, if it has one.
Also removing all synced devices from the phone.
Then start the van and go through the scan for bluetooth devices and all that and see if u cna jsut start again from scratch.
