in australia, the number one cause of customer complaints and warranty issues in new cars is bluetooth pairing problems haha.
After already knowing this, and when my mum got a brand new Kia Rio, i tried to sync her android phone to it, I couldnt and thought wow, we are the next suckers, it simply doesnt work.
But then i came back days later and tried again doing random things and somehow managed to find the menu i needed, but the process was actually completely unintuitive and I wouldnt be surprised at all if there is one company somewhere, responsible for all the bluetooth technology chps in cars, and they just cant make a sensible user interface chip, leading to all these peope thinking it impossible to pair their phones.
It can be incredibly frustrating, but i suggest you do as you have said disconneting the attery, but also reset the entertainment system, using the "restore to factory defaults" option, if it has one.
Also removing all synced devices from the phone.
Then start the van and go through the scan for bluetooth devices and all that and see if u cna jsut start again from scratch.
