U1A04 is vehicle speed can signal which I think is the can network fault rather than speed sensor fault so in other words canbus comm fault at the module.

Is it mk7 transit?

Clear codes, read live data on the 4 sensors, calibrate steering angle sensor. Check both batteries the front 1 especially (if fitted)

Check abs wiring
Replace abs unit
56 350 2.2 130ps mk7 with 2 side doors 8)
65 290 2.2 125ps custom with 2 side doors 8)
07 350 170ps

problem was having higher profile tyres on the back axle. Sending the sensors crazy.

Me too...quite common with the younger lads who like the bigger rear tyres on the RWD's etc...

Have you had the codes read...?? Proper diagnostics will tell you if it's a sensor...and which one is at fault.

Hi, Did you fix this problem ? I have the same problem as I put All Terrain Tyre's on the back's but they rubbed on full lock on the front so I needed to get thinner tyre's on the front, but I drove with standards on the front 215/75/16 and wider ones on the back 245/75/16 but they must have had 2" of tread on them haha so the 75 measurement was no way the same as the fronts, Anyway I now have this problem with the ABS and ESP Lights on the Instrument panel and No Speedo and the dotted lines on the digital display. I plugged it into FORScan and have these Codes come up.

PCM DTC's : U1A04:29-2F
U1A04 - Vehicle Speed CAN Signal
Additional Fault Symptom (:29): - Signal Invalid
Status (-2F):
-DTC Present at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module : Powertrain Control Module

ABS DTC's : C1A91:14-2B, C1A92:14-2B, U0401:82-2B

I've checked the sensors and the wiring plus the connectors etc and all looked good, just incase I put some more sensors in the nearside front & rear as they were showing up, I've changed the PCM Relay and related Fuses for the PCM and ABS, I've cleared the codes but they obviously keep coming back up again, I'm still not any closer to finding the problem. The other thing is I put standard tyre's back on the rear and it was fine for the day with no problems I had no faults or lights on the dash and the speedo and digital display worked. Then the next day It's like this again.

Whilst the 75 is the sidewall height - it doesn't mean 75mm or any discrete value. The 75 is a percentage of the width.

245 is 30mm wider than the 215 tyres, so 75% of 30 is 22.5mm. The 245s will have a 22.5mm larger radius, or 45mm larger diameter. So your description sounds true to the marked sizes.

Thanks for the Reply Matt, It's doing my nut in now  I forgot to mention it's a 2011 2.4 LWB RWD
I've gone around it with the multimeter and I'm not getting anything at the ABS Sensor's on the nearside, I've traced the wires (Yellow + Pink & White) back through the bulkhead but can't see any damaged wires and then they just disappear into the abyss of the dash. All the earths around the engine bay have been checked with the multimeter and all are giving a reading over 12Volts, just nothing at the n/s sensor, the offside one is fine. I've changed relay's and fuses just to make sure but still the same outcome. I might have to do the last resort thing and take it into Ford if i can't find the problem

Might be worth downloading forscan lite for your phone, get a bluetooth dongle and see if you can see live data from each of the wheel speed sensors?

RESULT ! I found the problem, After tracing the wires, I ended up at the ABS Module Connecter So While there I thought I'll just check the Pins inside where the ABS Connecter goes on and Yup sure enough there were a few that were bent like a banana and a couple were touching and some squashed, I had to strip the whole front end of the van down to get in there to straighten the pins and make sure the connecter went on and off ok, Those pins are so delicate I'm never taking one of those connecters off again, I must have bent them myself by accident when putting the connecter on when I checked it previously when I had the different Wheels on the back, After changing the wheels I still had the ABS and ESP with No Speedo problem because of these pins on the ABS Connecter that were Bent ! Hope it helps someone in the future, I thought I better come back here and mention it anyway :D Feel like a right pleb now Haha but happy to have her back on the road again and running sweet
