Cruise control problem .

Postby 1robbie » Fri May 18, 2018 4:15 pm

Went to vantuners Strathaven and activated CC . It's activated but doesn't work . The cc light shows on dash when starting the van . Fault code for overvoltage shows on their computer so he thought it might be the switches. Tried another steering wheel , no joy .
Vantuners says he only activates it but doesn't get into troubleshooting so he really doesn't know what the problem is .
I seem to remember reading something about having to program two keys but I only had one with me . Could it be that simple why it won't work .
Any ideas would be appreciated as I have spent almost £300 now and still don't have CC .
Thanks

Ouch i thought vantuner was £75. For CC activation, i would have thought if it lights( 3-4 seconds)up when ignition on it should work, any other electrical problems

No electrical problems at all . It's a mystery . I may end up having to go to a Ford dealer but they are so expensive and who knows if they can help . Might be a waste of money .

Could it be something wrong with the wires or connectors between the wheel and the BCM?
Also did you clear the codes? I remember getting some codes too when I activated it.

I assume that vantuners would take care of that end of things . But I don't know .

Hi, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have exactly the same problem after a retrofit cc? Thanks

May be a daft question, but here goes ....................

Or (as stated by op he bought a new BCM) have you checked the extra wires are there for the CC?
Two usually required from steering wheel clock spring plug to BCM?

I'm not seeing much info here.

Can you tell us specifically what steps were taken from start to finish including parts and wiring spec.

Then what symptoms you have ie. Obvs no cruise but is the green light coming on then off at start?.
Then any fault code you have?

There's 2 wires going from the steering squib to the bcm and they need to be correct and in the correct pins at the bcm.

I turned cruise on for someone but he had a euro 5 pcm so my ids couldn't initialize it, he had to go to Ford to do it but cruise etc worked.

Is it fixed yet? :P
