Daft Mirror Question

Postby Mad Husky » Tue May 22, 2018 5:10 pm

My mirror drivers side on my 06 mk6 has seen better days been hit a few times by the look of it, mine are all electric and heated now does anyone know before I buy one if the gubbins out of mine will fit into a bog standard one i know i could replace the back and main mirror but my view of blind spot is my rear wheel so was thinking of replacing all of it.

I'll say yes as it saves production if they make one that can have both

Remove the plastic stopper under the hinge part to feed the wires through. N

I would have thought this as well but hey you never know they may have done something weird and wonderful to stop you.

The hinged part is joined together in production and that itself stops you removing all of the plastic without having to smash it up.

I agree that it would easier to spur off a common body but on many things this has been proven to be not the case :-(

Should be able to score a couple of complete mirrors cheap enough anyway shouldn't you?

I have looked on ebay for new and second hand, none anywhere by me all the ones local to me are bog standard that was why i asked as i wanted to buy a bog standard and just swap out the wiring and motor was even going to salvage the heating element as it's only stuck on with double sided tape. The scrappy's by me are not that cheap be lucky if i could get one for under 15 ea.
