Mark 6 2004 power steering pipework

Postby Havoc99 » Tue Jun 05, 2018 6:02 pm

Hi all
Have been advised by the mechanic who looks after my van that the power steering pipework needs replacing due to corrosion.
Don't fancy buying from FORD due to silly prices, and not to keen buying off of EBAY because of little support if I accidentally buy the wrong part etc etc.

Do you guys know of any good aftermarket suppliers of said pipework, and maybe what I should look to avoid or what I should look out for.
Many thanks in advance.
Advice appreciated

Ok been told I need
CONS PIPE 1
CONS PIPE 2
CONS UNIONS X 2

does anybody have a diagram of the parts or a link to a diagram and or part numbers.

Have looked on eBay at item https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222999220891

Is this the complete pipework I need or just one part of it ??

Thanks in advance

Ok, have found out the garage was quoting me for 2 unions even though I believe I only need 1.
They said I would have only been billed for 1, as ford only sell them in pairs & once recieved the garage has to return 1 to fords...... What a crap way of doing things !!!!!
Anyway seems I need 2 pipes at around £250 for the two from fords....... F*"':ckin total rip off.
There has to be somebody who supplies at a sensible price aftermarket ???

Question is have you leakage from this pipe? If still not, buy self-vulcanizing tape, clean pipe and swathe pipe using tape - and stop think about it.

i did this job my self its easy todo if you know what your doing bit like plug and play. I only needed one pipe BUT found that ford changed the design to stop rubbing and this means you need to change to other pipe as they will not fit at the rack end. My old pipes were origonal fords unless you can get the old design pipes your stuck with both.
Rehards.

I got mine from ford i had no choice, £250 seems a but much for the pipes imo i didnt spend that much.
