i usually put the jack under the wishbone if I want a wheel off.
Although that's not really an option if the tyre is flat.

1 get air into the tyre quicker than it's coming out to get enough lift for the jack to go under the wishbone.
2 use more than 1 jack.(1 to lift the body so it's raising the suspension enough to get a second jack under the wishbone)
3 use 1 jack under the body/sill and chock using wood blocks to get the desired hight.
Never fun when the wheel is completly flat

Necessity is the mother of invention you know Drive it up on the spare wheel or the block of wood you should have under the seat

the spare wheel was stolen by the "travellers" and the block of wood is neededd to stop the engine shaking about.
