Ford Transit 2003 Lights problem

Postby George Henderson » Tue Jun 19, 2018 10:01 am

I currently have no tail lights or front parking lights.
Fuse blown and when replaced there was quite a loud pop. I assumed fuse had blown again.

Rear bulb holders were corroded. Both replaced. Still no lights. Fuses all checked and all ok. Changed all of them in case of hairline fracture but no joy.

Also there was an alarm which sounded when driver door was opened and lights left on. No longer sounds.

Switch removed and checked. No obvious problem there.

Vehicle is 2003 Transit rear wheel drive engine size 2.4L . Jumbo (extra long)

Converted to a camper in around 2009. Had great service.

Is there a central unit controlling all lights and is it expensive to replace if so?

Pull all the bulbs off. Replace fuse and see if it pops. If it does then you have a wireing problem.

Check the looms behind the headlights that run to the repeater marker light on the wings if fitted. The looms can short off the valance
