What engine is this and what is the maximum load capacity

Postby cristian.oyarzun » Tue Jun 26, 2018 6:23 pm

Hello, I own a Ford Transit 1976, when I bought the truck about 15 months ago the previous owner told me that is a 2 tons and the engine is a 2.2 (I live in Australia)
I'm currently building a food truck on my transit, when I put the box over the tray the suspension went down quite a lot and the engine struggled a bit.
Any info could be very helpful.

Thanks

Cristian

That's an old Falcon 6 cyl engine I believe...?? A little more than 2.2L. Should pull ok with that in there, unless it's not well.

It looks like a 5 cylinder :? I can only see 5 plug leads or is it just not showing the number 6 in the pictures?

Number 6 will be right at the back, you can see a darker colour lead going to the back, but cant see the plug lead end.

What is the lettering on the rocker cover?
Are there any makers casts on the engine block?
and look at what make of carb and distributor it has, this may also give a clue as to what it is.

I am fairly sure its is similar to the Ford Zepher or Zodiac 6 , although it was probably in quite a lot of Ford Australia motors
Just Google Ford Zepher engine and you will see it
Photo says carburador de motor ford 300 so probably a ford straight 6 built in Australia UK and US and as Knobby says was fitted in the Falcon

If so. that would be 2553cc, as I recall from my dad's Zodiac of the sixties :)
