Would really help if you told us what van you have...guessing can lead to all sorts of problems.

Cracked piston 5 years old 53000 miles got to spend £6500 on a new engine bargin nice one Ford you make such high quality secure stuff
Even when it’s serviced at the correct intervals and looked after strange that it went just after it was serviced and yep they wouldn’t even let me pay it of in 2 instalments cheers

Yep not interested as it only had 3 year warranty battling with them since it had the security update software installed after which it stoped my lights working when you ain’t got the key in the ignition

you would of thought by now they would off improved these engines BUT THEY HAVENT

they still using the same part from 17 years ago

as for holed pistons thats down to the mapping of the ecu, the pistons carnt cope with it

they are only alley

the ford rangers are the same and the landrover they all use the same engine "apart from they have 5 cylinders " and this is based around the 2 cylinder mrk 7 what they stopped making them. A few years later its back again and still has the same issue with them "holed pistons" or oil pump failer :(

A company i work for has a brand new connect van and ford carnt get the parts to fix that "drive shafts" and ford are passing the blame to them because it been on a muddy site

I’m so pissed off as I’m still paying the loan off and can’t get another to pay for the new engine so much for ford transit being the back bone of the small business guess I’ll have to take engine out weld tow hitch on and use it as expensive trailer

Fairly common, especially on the 2.2 engines....oh...and it's "Duratorq" not duratec....Both Euro-4 and Euro-5.
