help transit 2.4 starting cuts out then runs fine

hi people i have a 2.4 tipper 2007 and once in a while now it would start and fluff and cut out
but then would restart no problem and off id go.
last few weeks its been starting ok cold as normal,off to work i go,and then it will start and conk out,once warm,start again go to rev and it seems like no rev no throttle response
conk out,then it will start and i can drive off no problem at all,but it seems to be getting worse.

ive changed filter today gen ford one,no different.

i have no engine light coming on,i just have to keep trying to start it and if i catch it right it will run
i dont think there is any power loss once running it seems ok until i stop and turn it off.any help please.

does it rattle on start up then cut out then turn the key away it goes ?

mine does what yours is doing just havent had the time to sort it yet

i have noticed especially in the winter for years now,when i start it,it would start fine but i never rev it hard as it would make a rattle sound,
so i would drive off slow,and not put my foot down for about a mile or so,or once the temp had come up,then i could floor it and no rattle,but in warmer weather not so bad,still if i start yes it would give a rattle until warm,my brother said to me a long time back,that the tensioner needs to get oiled and warm and it would take up the slack and the rattle would stop.do you think its gone past leaving it now then,and its knocking out the timing,even tho it will restart hot after a few tries with no rattle sound.many thanks.
