HELP..How to fit transit mk6 fuel pump

Postby Stuart1989 » Sat Jul 07, 2018 10:19 pm

Hi all I need to replace my fuel pump on my transit mk6 2.4. I have virginised my second hand pump as I have the tool to do it and have the pump sprocket holding tool so I don’t need to remove timing cover. I know I need to remove injector pipes and inlet manifold, fit sprocket holding tool. Before removing pump how do I time engine to remove pump just wondering one that. And timing the second hand pump up before undoing the sprocket and removing pump. Can anyone help

Forgot to mention 2002 90bhp engine if any difference. Changing pump due to smoke on startup and idle

Probably won't be pump...more than likely injector and/or EGR related.

You don't have to remove the pump to chhange the timing solenoid....many on here have done it.

The previous owner fitted the pump and I don’t know history of it. I have a good pump here that I decoded/virginised I want to fit. I don’t know if they have timing out a bit as maybe changed pump without locking flywheel. I have pump sprocket holding tool just need locking pins

Some of the guys use drill bits of the correct size. What that size is I do not know.

Damn I had the yellow plastic sprocket holder now just brought a complete metal timing kit. The diesel smoke is either timing, pump or injectors. Either way I’ll eventually get there as have another injector set. Is it true the crank sensor is 1 time use only
