Speedometer won’t work

Postby Malcforrest » Thu Jul 12, 2018 7:31 am

Hi guys.

Just bought a mk7 transit and the speedo won’t register. I got a screen shot of what’s wrong if anyone could shed some light.

Thanks

Malcolm

Speedo is driven by the ABS rings on the Mk7. Check all the looms on each wheel.

Have you had the codes read..??

Checked all the abs sensors and cleaned the connections. Still no joy.
I’m getting an injector coded tomorrow, is it likely they’ll be able to read any fault code from it?

Yep...if there's a code, they should be able to pick it up....do you have a light on the dash..?? If the ABS system was playing up it should at least throw a fault code of some sort....not sure if there's a fuse for the speedo.

It isn't showing a fault light but today I had someone read the ecu and the following codes were logged:

Vehicle Speed CAN signal (ATT)
Water in fuel sensor circuit range or performance (ATT)
Right Rear Wheel sensor (ATT)
Invalid data Received from ECM/PCM A (ATT)

Would you know what these faults are in reference to?

Thanks again

The "Vehicle speed" and "Right rear wheel sensor" are a dead giveaway for a dead speedo. The "water in fuel" was usually a faulty PCM software and fixed with the latest update. "Invalid data" is just that...the PCM is getting rubbish info, probably from your duff speed sensor system.

You must have a poorly sensor or wiring to it.

All sorted. New abs on the rear right and new fuel filter and it’s running great.

Speedo works fine now which I’m pleased with
