Glow plug voltage on a mk8

Only just rebuilt my engine, starts great once it’s warm but takes 3 or 4 seconds churning to start from cold.

Checked the voltage to the glow plugs and I’m only getting 2v. I replaced the 4 glow plugs when I rebuilt the engine anyway but have tested them and get 3 ohms resistance through them to ground.

Couldn’t find a glow plug relay so I’m assuming mine has the glow plug module. Does the module output at 12v (in which case it’s probably faulty) or does it regulate voltage depending on engine temperature monitoring current draw from the glow plugs?

Will check the voltage to the module to make sure it’s getting 12v when I find it but only had a quick look so far. Off this weekend so want to sort it then

I can’t see a button to like your post but thanks, that’s a great help. I had a feeling it might drop the voltage down. Hopefully get better as things bed in
