engine not turning over, battery fine - key?

Hi,

I've got a 2002 transit minibus. It's been running fine, starting first time, no problems. But just then, I tried to start it and it did nothing. I took key out, tried again and it started fine, thought nothing of it. then it just did that again except this time nothing for a few attempts and then eventually worked, but now it's not working at all! On the times I've got nothing, all the dash lights come on, the coil light comes on then goes off as it should, everything is fine but then when I turn the key to turn the engine, I get absolutely zero - no noise, no turning over at all. then the times it's worked between, it turned over great.

I wonder if it could be the key/engine disabler or such like?

Any ideas what I can test?

Check all the terminals, the earth cable will probably have a fuse link in, not sure if they work and fail dead or short, also the ignition switch is cheap and a common fail point.

I’d be checking the starter motor first, try getting someone to carefully tap with a hammer or something when you try to start it.

The starter motor earth lead can fail where it connects to the chassis and can cause weird startering problems

Try changing ignition switch, cheap on ebay and less than 20 sheckles from Ford
