mk7 2007 2.4 prv

Postby raybe » Sun Jul 29, 2018 4:31 pm

Hi people ive been having starting problems, but once started been running ok
idle is not great but ive got away with it for last few weeks, and today fitted a new pressure sensor on the front rail.
no change,so i took off the rail and found prv,in bits,so i replaced with new one.

now when it starts it idles better sits at 8000 rpm,and dont cut out like before, only when i drove it up the road it seems to have now lost power.

is this gonna be just a matter of pcm,and prv reset etc.and will it be safe to drive to fords about 3 miles away.many thanks.

Its normally the suction control valve (fuel metering Valve) on the back of the fuel pump that causes the Pressure Relief Valve to blow....

where is the best place to buy the scv, ford said £163

Get the learns done, but if prv isn't genuine it's probably your less power problem and more than likely learns wont complete

I do hope she's not idling at 8000rpm..

Genuine SCV & PRV are the only way to go...or you'll be buying them again. Counter reset and a full set of learns is then required. The PRV has blown because of a faulty SCV.

Forscan with a modified ELM-327 or IDS for doing the learns.

Learns only take ~45 mins to do...Forscan is free to download the "Windoze" version and the modified ELM-327 can be had for ~15quid-ish.

hey guys thanks for all your help, just thought id come back and say.all is good ,well so far.

fitted genuine ford prv,£120 and scv from pf jones original denso,??,-£58- i say that as there not stamped denso.

took all your advice, and got the forscan, ebay £17-run it all up tonight, was a little worried as not used many scanners but done loads of mechanics over the years. so fitting it all was very easy.

anyway with a bit of panicking it all learned ok,and truck pulled up the road nice.

i have a couple of codes still, but there for other things,i think i need to change a battery, will test it proper tomorrow.many thanks.

they are not stamped denso from pf jone but the one i got the other day was a nissan one and works a treat

you can tell fake from genuine ones by looking at the size of the hole at the end of the scv
