for future refference, generaly, if your radiator cor is aluminium, then its usualy red. But you dont jsut go and add red.
If there was anythign in there other than "red" before, then u need to flush that all out, before adding the red due to the affects the green has on the organic nature of the red, not detrimental enough to cause an issue, but detrimental enoguh to mean u wasted your money on the "red".
You can run it on green, but its just not ideal for the radiator, because aluminium oxideses faster than copper, and the red stuff is just that bit better at preventing that. Apparently.
I think in the UK you also have Blue, dont quote me on this, but i beleive blue is just a step higher and is even better in aluminium than red.
Now blue only realy exists becasue of the EU, but i think after you BREXITED, maybe you no longer need to satisfy this EU requirement:
BLUE : Safe for use in European vehicles as it DOES NOT contain Phosphate

Blue stuff needs changing every 2 years. :(
Orange/pink (OAT) = every 5 years. :D

OAT is kinder to cooling system internals
