Postby booncer » Mon Sep 30, 2019 1:44 pm

hi there, got a mk7 transit, wont start seems like the immobiliser is stopping power getting to the starter motor. my elm327 wont connect to the ECU or other modules, anyone seen this fault before?

You have a red immobiliser indicator on the dashboard clocks, that normally flashes slowly when the engine is turned off. When you switch the ignition on, the light should come on, and then go out almost immediately.
If it's doing all of those things, then it isn't an immobiliser fault :?

The fast flashes will settle to flashing a 2 digit code (i.e. 1:3 - 2:3) You need to know what that code is :)

I found this of the web and pasted it here, hope it helps:

In that case - even as you have found by way of the definition of that code, there is a fault that has developed somewhere on the system that needs to be found.

Often this is found to be a bad connection on the Ecu's ( computers) or security control unit - and sometimes its found to be a chaffed wire / wire loom rubbed through and damaged - It is a case of tracing the system through / wiring / connections to locate and cure the fault.

A good place to start is in the engine bay -and where the wires go to the diesel system / pump - you need to follow the looms and carefully check / inspect the loom connectors - and the wiring for any damage as above -and you need to keep working through either until you find such a fault and therefore cure it - or.. if you cant find the fault, it can be a fault with the system control module itself.

If you get to that point , ie, you cant find any fault as above - then you need to have Ford diagnostic equipment plugged onto the van to locate the fault. That will find the fault quickly and cost effectively for you - but work through as above first , you can often find the cause of your fault that way on these vans.

thanks andy, found that too, working my way around it again, im guessing it may be a module problem if all the wires are correct i see ecu kits with the immo module a new ecu and the key im also guessing these are all coded to the ecu

yeah all fuses pulled and checked looked at the big multi plugs (pulled, reinserted) key seems snappy seems like a fresh one no chrismas tree on the wiggle. still no access to the ecu with (elm327 works ok on a mk6) ill probly have a jab at the engine fuses today with the meter make sure the ecu is powering.

still no joy with this, checked wires fuses, probably check glovebox relays tomorrow, disconnected immo, gave a fault 11 with no ecu it gives a code 16 got no ecu communication with the code reader, powers up ok. Did anyone got any decent mk7 tdci wiring diagrams for sharing?

Does your interior light work..?? I believe the OBD-II connector power supply uses the interior light fuse...

What are you using and have you tried a different reader or using yours on a different van to rule that out?

If you have a power and earth to 16 pin dlc,and no comms with ANY module,
Either someone has been probing the can-bus connections at 16 pin and they're now not connecting to your adaptors,
Or has someone in the past fitted a 'dummy' 16 pin,or disabled it to stop theft :!:
