I've just had 5l of acetone delivered and was thinking the same thing, not sure on how much difference it'll make with the 2 stroke but its got to be worth a try judging from what everyone else is saying :D

Hi all,

recently I've tried to put acetone and 2 stroke oil in the tank of my Tourneo Custom 2.2 155hp...

I followed the well known table for the right mix ratio...put everything inside...and go.

the first day, after a couple of km I started to feel the difference, so at the end of the day I was really happy about.

BUT...

stop...never happen again, now I still have half tank inside but the power/torque is exactly as before "the additive".

what's wrong with me ?

thanks for any advice or experience sharing

After reading through the thread earlier today I thought I'd give it a try.
So I went to the nearby town in search of some.

Several shops only had the acetone free stuff :(
But "Savers" had this for a quid.(150ml)
The fag papers came from poundworld (bet you can't guess how much they were)
Should last long enough to asses if it works for me :) The acetone not the papers.

Been using 2T and water injection for years so if this "enhances" my mk5 Di motoring
experience further then i'll start buying by the gallon.
Have just over 1/2 a tank of derv at the moment so I was thinking about filling it so
I know exactly how much is in it just to get the inital mix right.

Would it be ok to mix the acetone in with the 2T,tip it on the tank and then drive the mile or so to the nearest garage?
Or tip it in on the forecourt prior to/during filling up?

I used to stick 2t in at pump then fill over top. ..or pre mix 2t veg and bp ultimate derv then fill..
You can't over do 2t at all... really dirty fuel lines benefit from a severe over dose like a whole liter of 2t to a half tank and a damn good thrashing to get it thru the pump etc... also makes whole di system quieter too... bonus

Well after a couple of tank fulls of normal running to get a before and after figure I'm adding acetone tomorrow :D

I'm aiming to beat 24.49 mpg average.(using the same Esso garage fuel with 2T and acetone added)

Test vehicle is.........
99 Di 190 76ps with pump turned up.(just MOTed and flew through emmissions)

2 tanks of acetone added and figures show a slight increase.

24.49 without. roughly 368 miles/tank.

27.91 with. roughly 418 miles/tank.

Bearing in mind I had to do 2 days deliveries in 1 day due to a wholesaler cock up.
So most of that day was foot to the floor.

Filled back up this morning and reset the trip counter.

I have acetone in my unit, we use it to clean things while fibre glassing. It evaporates very quickly, it's about £10 a gallon.
