as for the mk4 one you have there, if it came from a chassis cab (single or twin wheel it makes no difference) then things arent the same, one of those things is that the shocks are sometimes mounted backwards like you said, but as 100ps says not always, i have actually seen a chassis cab with the mountings for both orientations on the vehicle
.... Friday after throw together vehicle anyone .... you can almost picture one rolling of the production line at 5 to 5 on a friday night, one shock mounted one way and the other side mounted the opposite way !!

make sure you use the mk or the year so we know what were talking about!! look here to find which mk is which!!!! and also state if its SWB or LWB single or twin your talking about!!!!
