Does anyone know the colours / index of the stereo wiring on a Mark 6
I have some pretty funky all singing Stereo DVD TV thing from some "Made In" type situation that does not have anything near a ford socket so will have to hard wire the cables, and though they are cleverly labeled on the stereos adapter plug, they'e not on the vans socket.
Any ideas or web links would be greatly appreciated
Hi, From the Haynes manual :- Orange/Black - Permanent Live (memory)____ Green/Black - Dial Lights (from dimmer)_____ Yellow/Blue - Ignition Swithed (acc. position)____ Brown - Central locking (alarm)______ Black/Green - Earth (2 off)______ Grey/Red - Right Speaker Minus (-)____ White/Red - Right Speaker Plus (+)____ Grey - Left Speaker Minus (-)_____ White - Left Speaker Plus (+)_____
Hope this Helps. Halfords and car radio specialists do loads of adapters for connrcting I.C.E. to most manufacturers vehicles which saves a lot of hassle. Easier to put original radio back also. Regards, Timbo
Yeah i did search on here first but kept getting stuff about air horns and other stuff not related. You cant seem to ""_____" like on google to get the words in exact order. I was hesitant about even asking as thought it was pretty basic.
1) Not got any audio at the mo for some reason - so will check speaker end tomorrow - just incase Police (former owners) disconnected them) 2) System is only running when the ignition is on - so guessing still have a wire to connect somewhere
I did have a question about Earth though as there are two Black/Green Stripe Cables is there a difference ?
I went to Maplins in Hammersmith and was told by the guy behind the counter eating his lunch that everything they had was on the shelf (lovely customer service). When i went to the shelf there was only one item which had two types of plugs both with a variety of cables hanging out the back. This being pretty much what came with the stereo and my current situation
I then went to Halfords in Hounslow as its one of the biggest in W London, where my registration was typed into the computer. Talk about Little Britain and "Computer Says No". There is only one adapter kit listed for Transits from 97 to 09, which just happened to be on the shelf under the computer, and even the chap there said "That's no bloody good".
So I was back to square one again
So bought some connectors that piggy back the van cables (don't buy from Halfords (aka HalFrauds) they are more than double the price of Maplins).
I've made sure to do a tidy job as bit of a perfectionist but have the two remaining probs. Sound is either a faulty stereo AArrhhh or Police buggering about with speaker cables (as they were not connected to Ford Stereo Plug (just taped up).
So trust me - I'm not being a lazy bugger - though the easy option is preferable
Any geniuses out there wanna help - Don't hold back - Bring it on - PLEASE
Have you got an old speaker you can wire direct to the set to see if it is giving an output. And get an AA battery and connect it to the leads that should go to one of the speakers in the van. You should hear a clicking or rasping noise as you connect the leads on and off the battery. This will tell you if the speaker and wiring is O.K.
The AA Battery on the Speakers was a great idea and if crackling = working, then those babies are alive and kicking.
So from the stereo if got the "rear speaker out" cables (van only has front) and brushed them against same cable connections and got something - but very slight. Definitely not music though - just very quiet clicking.
So got a mini speaker and did same with battery - loud static - connected to stereo and got nothing.
So guessing the prob is with the stereo, and looks like a visit to repair shop is on the way.
you do have the volume turned up on the stereo dont you,,,, and make sure that the stereo isnt faded to the left/right/front/rear,, as if it is faded to the right and you are checking the left speaker output, you will obviously get nothing.
