Mk7 transit central locking stopped working help!!!

Postby matte » Wed Jun 16, 2010 1:50 pm

Hi, I have a 56 plate transit went 2 work this morning unlocking drivers door with key as a bit sticky with fob when I got to work tried to undo side loader and back doors with fob, lights flashed but doors did not unlock. I have tried with key in drivers door but central locking not working at all. Checked sensor in head lining and is recieving when all 3 buttons are pressed. The doors do not make any noice to indicate they r trying to unlock when fob is pressed. When I lock drivers door with key the horn sounds as if a door is unlocked I have lent on the doors to make sure they are fully pushed shut and still no joy. I have a steel bulkhead so at the mo I have no access to my tools. Any1 else had this problem?? I have checked fuse and to top it off pulled the radio one by accident which is now asking for code I don't have. I don't know what to do next any help really appreciated thanks

This is probably NOT going to help you, but I`ll suggest it anyway. On my old MK6 van (which I know is quite similar to my MK7) the fuse for the central locking was under the dash, right but the steering stalk. I think there were three fuses in different looms, god knows why they are there and not in the fuse box but it`s worth a try.

Good luck.

Is the fob opening the front doors? There was a problem with the keys where the battery connections were failing killing keys-The other problem being 1 2 or all 3 buttons on the fob failing-If the fob aint unlocking the front doors it may be this.Did the red light on the sensor light up on each button separately?

Are any of the door latches operating when you press the remote? Put you ear next to each one on each door and let me know. I'm very intrested in this fault.

Also where are you from?

If you sit in the drivers seat with all the doors closed, operate the inner door lock switch what happens?

Had a couple of vans with similar probs and they have turned out to be a battery fault.
These have been rwd vans and the front battery has been faulty.
Worth a try...

Well if the lights operate when the remote is pressed then the fob is fine. If the front/ auxillary battery is flat then the remote won't work but also no lights will flash when pressed and interior light will be dim or not working.

Yeah i have had a couple of these with exact same fault, I'm just trying to think what the cause was. Only thing that came to mind was the front battery...
