convert mk5 front end to mk6/7 ????

Postby kevinwalkerjnr » Thu Jun 30, 2011 4:39 pm

hi guys, im in a rutt, have decent 2002 transit, cant afford the new shape but have some saving so after bit of research i believe can put new front end on my older shape.
after visiting van spares today and lining up a wing, apart from the obvious shorter looking wing seeming to far from fit also the back of wing were newer bumper starts seems like the bumper position will be to far back and may rub tyres on lock.. :( :( :( :(
i see people have done on this forum, can any one offer help advise, possibly carry out work if based near manchester. :D :D
appreciate all help, suggestions etc

Yes don't bother, it won't make your van any newer, faster, or more reliable. If money is tight don't waste it

if its a mk5 then fitting the front from a mk6/7 will make it look bodged and worse than a good clean mk5 (ive seen one done)
on the other hand if its a mk6 2002 the the mk7 front will make it look newer but its not as straight forward as unbolting the old wings and bolting the new wings on as the structure under the panels is different.
Right 5th Transit now A black petrol mk5 swb, soon to be coverted into a day van mpv.

not sure exactly what mk it is but its 52 plate and shape before latest ?
keep hearing its a possible conversion but not seen yet. some one on this forum posted pics of all parts they had sourced for conversion back in december but no latest pics to show progress or completed project. was hoping to see someones work would be the deciding factor

Finished conversion now, well worth the investment.
Painted ice White. Black standard rims at moment
Seriously want ST alloys and front kit at least to finish.
Struggling to source for fair price.

Those who said won't make van faster, newer or more expensive !!

In my eyes it's a pleasure to turn up on job in van. And it's getting a lot of remarks. Good ones. Well worth it.

P.s anyone know of an ST specialist breakers or someone who reicated ST kit.

Yeah it's more aero dynamic now and it thinks it's a mk7 so more reliable lol.

It does job. Only converted really due to liking ST far to much. Least I can move on to next step.
