Yep 4 years, dont get me wrong i wasnt looking for it everyday, i just accepted i had a slow bag of sh*t and had to use it anyway and i only need one tipper,
I was aware all this time that it was down on boost...but if you cut fuel delivery to a car you will also get low boost, so it can also spring from Pump or engine management.
Also got a vw t4 with an Ibiza Gt tdi 110 engine in it, there a boost gauge fitted, and i noticed when id hit limp home before fine tuning the install it would rev but the boost wouldnt build at all
boost needs hot gasses, not lazy oul gases, thats what i presumed the transit was pushing. just gone lazy
I might fit a boost gauge just to monitor it over time, at first mine wasnt all that dead, the crack must have slowly forced open over the years till it was obvious to see it !
i posted on many forums and no one suggested brittle inlets so hopefully my posts will be found by a novice , granted many people said boost leak but if your not a transits for life man your going to look at hoses and turbo and overlook what looks a decently cast inlet manifold unless you know
my friends laugh at me, but i must say i love that oul transit cus i stuck with it and right now im very happy with it, 2 tonne of gravel mix in it the other day and doesnt stress her at all. you feel like a real man when shes loaded up , dont use parking spaces, f*** her out in the road and put on the hazzards !
Even went to the bother during the winter of converting it from a RHD to a LHD, welded in bulkheads - parts of floor everything to get it factory as had a donor van and slapped on a mk6 front, id say she good for another 5 -10 years service yet and iv it working for me every other day.
A happy ending,
You were lucky you knew what you were looking for from the start !
