I would have a quick look at your one first, in case it's loose or out of position :)

Fair enough, it's always worth checking the cheaper options first

I was thinking more along the lines of getting a new key cut, but recoding needs to be done with two working keys, otherwise it's a locksmith or Ford to get it done on a computer :(

My Focus does something similar to this if you put in the wrong key and then put in the correct key, it won't then recognise the correct key  :?

All PATS 2 modules do this, they have a 30 second time delay before a correct key can be used after an error occured

As for this van, it could be the immobiliser moduel within the fuel pump EDC thats buggered, remeber this well with a van in wembley, and dave's one from on here..sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Have come to the same conclusion APH. When I give the EDC's plug a good wiggle it will start. Not every time but after a few try s it will run. Once running it stays running. Now all I need is either a virginised second-hand EDC or a complete pump as I somehow doubt I can buy just the EDC from Fords.

I'd second that, take plug off, spary with switch cleaner, remove plastic / metal shielding and check for damage, go back a foot or so and reall inspect all the cores individualy, as they are prone to chaffing through, causing shorts.

Re: Immobiliser wont turn off

Hi guys,

Firstly I want to thank everyone that took time to give me there thoughts.

This is the current state of play. Took the plug out from the EDC. Removed the tape etc to expose the wiring. Didn't find any broken wires. Looked at the plug and cleaned it and closed up the holes in it slightly so as to make for a tighter fit. Refitted the plug. Turned the key and it started first turn. Turned it on and off countless times and it fired up every time. So far so good.

Now when I first refitted the plug the mobiliser light was still flashing at a 100 mph at position 2 on the ignition, but I turned the key and it started fine, however the light continued to flash very fast for about a minuet or 2 then stopped flashing and flashed the fault code 23. But the van never died and continued to run and drive fine.

So now I'm confused.com What is this fault code telling me now, as the van starts no problem now where as it didn't before when the light was flashing. Any thoughts on this and is something about to stop working?

Thanks.
Paul.

this is starting to sound more and more like Daves van fault I whent through earlier this year, still turned out to be a faulty diesel pump...

Have a read of this thread and see if it seems familliar:

Hi Andy,

read that thread and yes some of it is same as my problem. On real difference is the flashed fault code. Mine at the moment always flashes the same code of 23. As I only got the van running again yesterday I haven't used it enough to see if the codes change.

I have to go to Brighton tomorrow so will see if the flashing ever stops or the code changes. I really don't want to be spending god knows how much on a fuel pump if I can help it.

This is turning into a nightmare :(

ive only had it twice once on a 2000 fwd and once on a 05 fwd, when wiring has been damged, and it was a good (my) 6 inches sown from the plug, on the 05 there was no damage of outer loom casing at all and one of the wires had just corroded :?: :?: with only 2 strands left.
the 2000 one had rubbed were it was tight next to starter.
