Free Mk1 transit camper for parts unless your very brave!

Postby wardy-uk » Thu Mar 08, 2007 8:21 pm

I came a cross a Mk 1 camper while on the hunt for a V4. The engine turned out to be sticking at the bottom. I was offered the van for £50 but said no now the owner contated me asking to list it here. Well what can I say its free but is a pile of crap. Its really rotten it as a pop top roof, interior and the body. The engine is now in the back and it as know wheels.

Its located in Hartlepool and owner is trying to get somebody to take it for scrap but know at the moment will.

Let me knwo if you want and ill arrange things.

A couple of photos would be great, but otherwise I could send you a PM with a list of parts, but it sounds like not a lot is salvageable :(

Can't say I want the whole van, but If he or anyone else is going
to break it then let me know.

I need more storage, ;0)

It must be in a very bad condition if no-one will take it.

Bits wanted

Postby welshrussell » Fri Mar 09, 2007 10:54 am

Hi Wardy-UK,

Any chance of you finding out if he has the old gas grill and 2 hob burner still in the van.

I desperately need one for next month

Also any dashboard switches, offside lower wing, and interior/exterior plastic trim.

Let me know if any of this stuff is still on the van.

Cheers, Russell :D

I have no pictures but next time im there if I rember I will get pictures. The body of the van like I said is rotten. The drivers and passenger doors need welding at the bottom. The reardoors need weling at the bottom and round the windows. The wings came apart when removing the front to get the engine out. The roof leaks and alll the inside is rotten. The axles look good thou!

I have taken the switchs off the dash board for mine as spares. The wings are no good (whats left of them) I think it does have a gas grill and 2 hob burner in it but don't know if its original. If you send me a picture of a original one I can tell you if it is or not. But it did have some rust on it. All the trim is there. The vans complete besides from wheels, gear stick and now the engine is in the back.

Cooker

Postby welshrussell » Fri Mar 09, 2007 11:40 am

Cheers Wardy

Here's my sink/cooker unit.

The grill/hob is just bolted to the underneath of the unit with 2 bolts.

The hobs then stick up out of the round silver trays you can see in the photo.

Does all this make sense to you :?:

I'd also be interested in the heater box, fan and radiator if they are OK :?:

Ta, Russ.

Interior Trim

Postby welshrussell » Fri Mar 09, 2007 11:55 am

Hi Wardy,

I'll post a photo of the plastic interior/exterior trim that I'm needing as well.

It's funny stuff. The first part is nailed to the walls (say, covering the gap between 2 panels) then there is another plastic layer that slides over this.

The best example of a description I can give is it is like some sort of flat curved electrical trunking.

The photos are on my computer at home (I'm in work now) so I'll send them later today.

I'm also after the two exterior fridge vents on the van. They measure 375mm by 145mm :?:

What are the door cards like - worth saving, mine are buckled to hell :(

Also, the felt window strips in the doors - are they in OK nick :?:

Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate your response :D

Cheers, Russell.

Hello Russell

Your sink/cooker unit looks nothing like the one I seen this van sorry.

I rember there was a plastic trim runing round the van on the insde above units. It was white with a silver top trim on it. On the out side there was a brown plastic trim along the bottom and middle sides.

I did not notice any vents on the outside but then again I was not looking for them.

The door cards are rotten. I am also after a pair.

Never noticed the felt window strips I was only looking for things of any use to me.

The questions are fine :) Im glad to give something back to the forum thats helped me out loads :D

I scrap cars in Hartlepool so soon as I get one to scrap ill call in and get some photos.

All the best William :)

Hi William

I mentioned needing trim before, so I started a new thread in 'Parts Wanted' and I've included photos, so you know what I'm on about.

Does your camper have this sort of trim :?:

Cheers,

Russell.
