MK2 Pickup Dobbel

Postby vilsaa » Fri Apr 19, 2013 8:35 pm

My Project started in 2012 when I bought this beauty.

It was with Yourk 2.4d engine and with 4 speed gearbox.

Then after driving it few weeks I bought 15"x10" rims to rear axle. then 295/55 r15 Toyo 600+4 rubbers.

Well the engine and the gearbox must had to be updated to now days.

I considered few engines and after trying the mercedes 2.3litre 16valve cosworth engine. My decision was made. My transit will be powered by BMW.

Some of you might thing why? I thought it myself too. But when you are looking a strong and lightweight petrol engine you cant do it other than aluminium V8. And becouse of my budjet engine couldnt be expensive. One of my limits was engines internal volume. Therefore they havent import transit with bigger engines than 3.0l v6 for ambulances and policecars I must have a engine that isn't bigger that 3.75l.

So my decition was BMW M62B35...

Next I had to think about the gearbox.

That one was easy becouse of my history with Mercedes automatic gearboxes. I couldnt think about anything else than Automatic. So my gearbox appeared 5HP30 ZF.

Here is some pictures of history of my transit:
