Didnt get much done today, have no transport at the min so had to use the bus which takes ages and had to quit early to make sure i got back :( but anyway this is the piece i cut out of the top of chassis rail inside cab....

and now i've got the inner reinforcement fitted.....

Image

made this again from 2mm steel bent to 90 degrees then fitted them together so the top face is 2 + 2mm so when outer skin (again 2mm) is fitted the total thickness will be 6mm (about the same as original)
Roll on sunday hopefully get this bit finished :)

Not much progress to report lately too much other stuff goin on :( , after a good look at things over the weekend i've come to the conclusion that this old truck wont be ready for the mania and i'm absolutely gutted :( :( :( i considered rushing things and maybe cuttin a few corners but then decided that having put so much into it i couldnt now start tryin to hurry things and make an arse of it :!: in the meantime i have got hold of a little flareside truck that needs a bit of TLC (quite a bit in fact) will have to start another progress thread on this one but should be a much quicker job to get it tidied up for August, not too bothered about keepin it so original, just upto mot standard and a bit of cosmetic work should have it looking ok so thats where my effort will be spent for the next few weeks :!:

Used a high zinc anti rust primer (the brown stuff) then red oxide and will give the whole lot a coat of light grey to give a nice even undercoat for the Yellow topcoat :!:

I decided to give the arches a coat of Hammerite "smooth" in white (i got hold of 2x5 litre tins for £30 so will have to use it  ) thought it would be a good tough undercoat and it should bring out the best in the Yellow topcoat :!:

Cracking job. Golden yellow - is that the same as JCB yellow? Best put a mini digger on the back for that extra finish :D
