1966 German Mk1 firevan make over

Postby RP123 » Fri May 10, 2013 11:32 pm

Thought I would start a thread for the conversion of my German mk1 firevan,

Plans are to change the front and rear axles, fit the 2.9 efi Cologne V6 and Mt 75 box retaining the V4 front panel and I'm toying with converting to RHD while I'm at it. :)

Couple of pictures of this afternoons start on the project.

Well here we go with some more progress, been busy over the last couple of weeks. 8-)

Got the Mk5 independent front suspension unit fitted and got the V6 engine and box fitted and engine and gearbox mounts all done.

I'm sorry I've posted a link to the mk1/mk2 Transit forum, for some reason on here every time I try and upload more than one picture at a time with photobucket it sends me back to the Home page when I click submit with message saying the requested page cannot be found :?: I would have to make over 20 individual posts to add one picture at a time!

So the updates are here, lots of pictures; http://mk1mk2transit.freeforums.net/ind ... 536&page=1

Thanks mate. :)

I've used the front IFS unit from my 6 stud 190 mk5 I'm breaking. Bit more progress on the mk1 now, the hybrid steering column is all done and bolted into the van, it now steers as RHD. 8)

That's about where I'm up to at the mo, starting to rebuild the bulkhead now and position pedal box and sort the dash out for RHD conversion. 8-)

Well I've not updated for a while. The project stalled for a bit while I had a few issues with getting the engine started and running right which resulted in me not making the school leavers prom, basically I had problems getting it started in the doner van before removing it and thought it was one part but it wasn't, anyway got it resolved after 4/5 weeks of head scratching, never straight forward is it!!

Anyway I'm back on the conversion work now and its coming on leaps and bounds.

Here are some more pictures, I'll let them do the talking.
