Mk4 1994 Long wheel base High Roof

Postby CK0505 » Tue Feb 20, 2007 8:26 pm

I bought this one in October as my Mk3 failed MOT due to SERIOUS rot underneath.

To date I've installed the Mk3 2.5 Di engine & box as it had a 2.0 pinto.

Fabricated a mount for the original power steering pump. OK, so I didn't fabricate it, I just used the Pinto bracket and mounted it on the lower O/S and am running it of the bottom pulley, as soon as I get a belt to fit.

Need to fabricate an adjuster for the tensioning.

Currently got electrical issues that another thread is dealing with.

A quick thanks to Luke and MrMPuk for the help they have given

I'll get pics up as soon as i can

After my temper had cooled down and I was thinking straight I found out that the starting problems I was having was due to the cable I used for the fuel cut-off solenoid. It had a break in it. SO 3 weeks of trying everything including dropping the fuel tank 3 times to check and swap over the fuel lines and nearly taking a sledghammer to the engine.

Now it runs sweat as a nut.

I managed to get the Steering pump fitted by fabricating a tensioner and mounted to the bottom offside of the engine.

Not much I can say really. This has got to be the easiest engine change there is. If I had installed a decent piece of cable to teh fuel cut off then the complete job would have taken 3 days part-time. Not bad for someone that is not the sharpest tool in the box.

Thanks again for everyone that helped me with advice.

Just got to get an MOT on it and then it will be fully legal.
