another wee update with this project....

as i had a bit of material left over i decided to make a pair of 3 ft ramp extensions to just leave over the existing 6 ft ones for loading very low vehicles etc.

i made up carriers for them to slide in under the middle of the body from the r/h side.

Image

Image

they will be held in place by spring latches from underneath.

Image

now that i have all the mocking up work done the body could finally come back off the chassis.....

Image

Image

next job was to hook up the tow pole...take advantage of the dry day,.... and get the chassis/cab to the bodyshop...dont know whats goin on with that pic lol!!

Image

Image

with the chassis/cab away for bodywork and paint the next job is to finish any bits of welding on the body which couldnt be fully accessed on the chassis,...get it ready for blasting/dipping......and finally get this puppy fitted which arrived yesterday!!

Image

thats all for now!!

another bit of an update on this project.....

with the chassis/cab away at the bodyshop i got the last few bits finished on the body...

got the winch mock fitted.....

Image

and got a bracket made up to fit the spooling guide that came with the winch.

Image

Image

the body is now waiting in line to be shot blasted to remove any paint and heavy rust before it goes for galv dipping......

meanwhile ive been calling into the bodyshop a couple of times recently to take a few progress pics.....

the lads are going well on it considering that they have only put a couple of good saturdays into it so far!

Image

Image

cab is now in primer ready for rubdown and paint.

Image

Image

its deffo heading in the right direction at this stage,.....next job is to pick a colour,...ive decided on a light blue to keep it period looking.....just need to pick a shade. one of the nicest parts of a project!!

will hopefully have another update soon!

another wee update to this project,.....its getting close to the final build up stage which is always good in my book!!

i got the body all shotblasted.....

Image

and got it back on the lift to drill lots of drain holes and add a partition panel at the front.

Image

Image

i made up a couple of stands to bolt to the body so it could easily drop onto my trailer for transportation to the galvanising plant which is a couple of hours away..

Image

Image

i dropped off the body last week and i should be getting the call to say its ready in the next few days.

meanwhile i got sent these pics from the bodyshop......always great to see a project in paint!  :super: :super:
