didnt get chance to update while the site was down but.......

managed a bit more the other day - fitted my opening drivers 1/4 window 8) thought it would be straight forward but it needed the brackets modding but nothing too bad - just need a passangers to match now :D

also moved the key so it starts of the previa barrel alll sorted now :D i also managed to weld the auto brake pedal on so it's got a large brake .......... not sure why never missed the normal one but its an auto 'must have' thing :|

ive also started to trace out the entire wiring loom onto paper so i can go thorough and cut out the redundant wires - i thought i would have been able to find this on the net allready but i've looked for ages and can't find one :( weather i get it finished or not is a different matter as it's a bit of a task and i'm fed up of it allready  but it will be nice to have as a diagnostic for the future :D

not had a great deal of free time lately but i've managed to make a good start on the drawing, this is a photo of it, i'm pritty sure this would start and run the engine all thats left to finish off is the cruise control :D i've done a bit more since i took the picture btw the paper size is 4 A3 sheets selotaped together

Image

decided to make the dash as it needs doing so i can mount all the gauges and run the wires to the correct lengths ect. i've been doing loads of sketches of how i want it to look, it needs to be retro and in keeping with the van style :D eventually it came down to these 2 - they are drawn to scale :D
in the end i chose the lower one as i think the top one looks a bit too basic :? even tho i may change my mind later

Image

made a start today - i'm making it out of wood 1st - not sure it i will make a fibreglass mould or what but i can see how it looks when the wooden one is finished :D

this is how far i got :| it's not as easy as it looks - cutting the wood is no problem its just fitting it in when its all bolted together that needs thinking about
Image

luckly woodwork was one of my favorite lessons at school  i can't imagine how much this would cost to get someone else to do  and getting it to turn out how i want would be a nightmare

 yeah handy to do as it gets me used to the wiring and if i get any problems it'll be easier to fix

not done any more yet but i'm thinking of getting one of the early T-R-A-N-S-I-T badges to have on the left hand side of the dash  8) :?:

just posted a few q's here  viewtopic.php?f=3&t=117784

dashboards coming on slowly - very time consuming making all the brackets :|

but the main progress is i've now bought another gearbox (i have 3 now) but this one is guaranteed working ok :D it was a bargain (well it will be if it works  ) works out cheaper than rebuilding the other one - i'm still planning on stripping and rebuilding 1 but this will hopefully give me more time and if needed i can uprate it when i do :D

Do you have a time machine ? You have a family a full time job numerous projects and started a pretty successful forum  I don't even have the time to do some very very simple bits to a newish van :(
