nice van do like a 6 wheel county, when you do the arches why not take the front of the rear arch forward a bit so you can get bigger tyres on it and take a foot out of the rear over hang

Although to fit them legally I'll need to go for the Class 4 motorhome MOT as they are not legal under Class 7

I was about to say she needs some nice aggressive tyres. I think the arch suggestion may have been to improve ramp-over but given its a transit i'm not sure that would help, or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

And re the offroad performace, well yes, having a vit they take some beating and you cant get four guys and lift a Transit van either

the over hang at the back of the van mk3 look at it side on the back looks too long i recon with a foot cut out the back and the rear moved forward about a foot would look about right, and also the front edge is close to the arch take that forward around two inches then you could get some 750 sats on it lol but then you might need to just angle off the rear edge of the front bumper to clear the tyre when on lock

had second thoughts about the side windows too, much as I prefer the look of a panel van I might just fit the full size windows all round, especially as I'm now going to campervan it.

I had planned on using it as a camper the odd time but to fit these Insa Turbo's I'll need to MOT it class 4 as a Class 7 requires at least 6 ply tyres.

Had a look at the requirements for "campervan registration" thread and it looks pretty straightforward.

Bit more info :

By the looks of the numbers on the plate, I have the following :

Engine : 4BA 2.5 Di 70PS

Gearbox : W8 MT75 5 speed Wide ratio

Rear Axle : Type 53 Heavy Salisbury Less LSD

Diff Ratio : K - 5.83

GVW : 3150Kg different to logbook which states 3380Kg. Suspect the 3380 was for the standard van from Ford and 3150 was after the County conversion and therefore the correct one (if its on the plate, its the correct one)

GTM : 4465Kg

Front Axle Capacity : 1330Kg

Rear Axle Capacity : 2360Kg

Definitely not built for speed this one

WOW, what a project,
A bobtail 4x4 transit on insa turbo special tracks

Had those on my Range rover, brilliant in mud, rocks etc but lousy on the road. Noisy and serious lack of grip in the wet. Also have a habit of busting diffs when the diff lets go before the tyre loses grip

Would try a little less agressive set of at's like coopers

County is a good look im a bit

As time goes on, the more I want a County Glad to see the bonnet is temporary, nothing worse than seeing MK3's being turned into MK5's and they never look right... Dont get me wrong Im all up for a bit of customising but, turning them into another old van!!! MK3's are getting rare and County's even more so.

Yeah its definitely staying Mk3 (on the outside anyway) I like the look of them better than the Mk5's

and it won't be getting bobtailed

G40GES It would look good redone in the old colour scheme but maybe not as a campervan
