Spent all yesterday evening and all today in the van rewiring & tidying up the mess behind the dash, ripped out a good stack of old wire from previous owners, I'm not far off finishing, another day should sort it all. On the plus side, I think I've now found the fault with the fuel pump being immobilised by the alarm, the pump has been making a fair bit of noise over the last 6 months, so I checked the amps and it went off my meter at 12A  meter leads started heat up and I noticed the alarm loop circuit had started to melt, but thats all been cut out now ready for the new pump. So next weekend, its just: finish the wiring, replace heater matrix and fuel pump  Thanks to Muttley for the nearly new pump and transitjono for getting it down to me.

Picked up some more zinc plating I had done last week, not had a chance to fit any of it yet, but really pleased with it all, even thou there are few etching marks from the acid dip

cheers, bolted the strikers on today, but before I do the injection bolts, I think the engine is going to need a major makeover.

Had a productive day, finished wiring behind the dash and sorted electrical fault with fuel pump power, although Ive now started on the engine bay  needs tidying up  also fitted a new ignition barrel, I'll get around to doing the doors another day.
Drained the coolant and replaced the hearter matrix, which although a bit awkard, only took 40 minutes, possibly easier with the dash out, but I'm sure I could done it with in, no more leaks there.
Finally, another job Ive been meaning to do for months, but the weather put me off a bit  was fitting the new fuel pump. Had to cut off the waterproof clip-on connectors as they wouldnt fit, so I'll have to have to look for some rubber seals to go over the nuts. The van started first crank, which is very strange, as it usually takes a fair bit of cranking to get her to fire up :D
On the down side, Ive found some serious rust!!! bottom corners of the windscreen, looks like the screen has been leaking for some time and has been hidden under the rubber trim on the inside :( so new screen was need anyway, but Im hoping to get the welding done asap at work. Maybe its time for a heated screen 8)

Not touched the van for a couple of weeks and MOT is due, so I thought Id do a little while the sun was out, check bulbs etc.
Fitted the new Chubb locks to the doors, but there isn't a new fuel cap lock :(
Replated bonnet catch is back on, the sliding door lock hasn't been opening from the remote, although it locks fine. So stripped that down and cleaned it, but it wouldn't unlock still, checked electrics, fine. So I gave in, but before I put the panel back on, a good squirt of PTFE white grease and put the panel back on. I gave the remote one more go, as you do and it started working again :!: :D A little fettling to the rear door check straps, which would'nt stay open and some new clear repeaters 8) my day is done
Looked at the wiring under the bonnet, pass...

Have been tweaking bits of wiring in the van today, just for something to do on a warm day, also acquired a heated windscreen loom from a Escort/Orion via transitjono a few weeks back, so that went in too. I'll have to finish wiring it up next weekend, when I sort out what wires do what! Just a matter of finding a heated screen now

Can anyone confirm the wiring, this is my best guess
Red - permentant live
Black/yellow - ignition live
Grey/yellow - dash lights
Blue/yellow - exciter wire

Yes your right, there is two brown earths joined with a eyelet, which is already attatched to the bulkhead. Im presuming that the wiring is the same sort of set up as used for the rear window.
The kit came off ebay, as Im getting some plating for Jono in return.

Re: My MK3 Day Van

Hello Alann,
I shall cross my life to read all the subjects, I learn full of things, it is fascinating...
I appear I am new in this forum, my first name is Maxime and after hours of (research) on the Internet I dare to ask for some information...
The translation of my text risks to be completed, "my english is not very well"...
Your project is enormous is very interesting

THUS, I possess a Ford transit MK3 (if I do not make a mistake) of 1989 2.5d and having run during 7 years, the rust caught up me. Not grave, I resoldered everything and repaint in mat black...
The question is: I wish to put wheel rims modular with tires of size normal because they too exist in version 4X4 a lot. As your.

Attached an address at random with image:
Http: // www.carrascalpneus

The questions which follow are:
- I do not manage choose/to find which entraxe of these wheel rims my ford transit (and I have not too much desire to make a mistake)
Could get clearer to me a little?
There are tons of information of several persons and thus I do not know any more what to think knowing that I read on other sites...

In any case the size of my tires are at the moment of 185 / 75R 14C with the diameter of the center 65 mm and the entraxe of axis in axis 85 mm...

- What is that I can increase my size from 14 to 15 inches with this type of wheel rims without I retaille the body?
Made you modifications on these wheel rims to be able to put them on your transit?

Http: // fordtransit.org / forum / viewtopic.php? F=27*t=12004*start=45

Could you say to me where you have to buy these wheel rims?
I thank you beforehand for your answer
Cordially maxime

Hi Maxime
I'm a little confused by your post, but I will do my best to understand  Great to hear you have been welding up your MK3.
My Weller Modulars were made for the Ford Transit 14" 160pcd centre caps are 122mm, so I have not made any modifications to make them fit. All I have had done is had them widened from 6" to 8" on the rear. Front 185/60/14, rear 245/60/14.

If you are looking to modify Land Rover Modulars 15" they will need redrilling inbetween the old holes with jig, but Land Rover rims generally have a winder offset, making them sit flush or sometimes just outside the wheel arches

Ive been shopping around for a heated front screen for the van, cheapest quote so far is £254 from one of those small firms, not tried any of the big names as yet, anyone got any reccomendations for a good quote?

Ive also brought the front cross-member, wishbones, antiroll bar and springs from Chilledphil's MK3 Exec, after a trip down to Dorset a couple of weekends back with Transitjono, Jono did take a photo of it all, but its all been stripped and is going to be blasted and powder coated. Ive brought a load of rubber bushes to refurb the set up ready to do a straight swap over with mine, but I'm a little confused about the bushes! Coz the parts are at work I can't compare them but I seem to have 2 different sized bushes for the rear part of the wishbone! They came in bags but they ahve the same part number on them
2 middle ones pictured, anyone help
