I just don't have the time to work on this project anymore :(

Expensive loss, £660 plus the little bits and pieces, batteries, oil etc.

I honestly wish you good luck for the next van, search for way longer this time and actually look at the vans before you part with any cash.

I don't think that was the price it sold for on eBay, was some sort of dodgy deal.

Dodgy deal on a dodgy van ;) :P

definitely look over the van properly next time. Don't buy through eBay or anywhere without looking.
Current Transit: Mk8 tourneo Sport with go faster stripes.

Long time sold: Mk5 LWB 190, 2.5di banana SHR, 3 seats, SLD, Twin rear doors (rusted bottoms), manual locking & windows.

I saw that thread after I posted here. Let's hope that the new owner doesn't find the forum as it won't be pretty :shock:

hehehehe

I sold the van for 600 to a friend who has been working with me on the project from the start. He was the guy who drove it back for me.

As it stands, the van is in perfect running order, 11 months tax, 11 months mot.

New battery, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, oil, cooling system flushed, timing belt, fan belt. Decent tyres.

I had it up on ebay for 700 and a guy was straight round to buy it. Only thing that put him off was the lack of power steering. (Mentioned in the auction).

I hadn't used the van at all since I got it back on the road. The 90quid a month insurance is better spent elsewhere :lol: I transfered the brakedown cover to my car.

In the future, I think I would save up a lot more buy money and buy a better condition transit which had power steering and a powerful engine.

In the end, the challenge was to get it back on the road. I did that, and it has kept another van out of the scrap yard. Now the challenge is over, time to move on.

Power steering is no big job to fit though.

Easy to say after the fact but at least now you should know what to look for/at

Well seems to be ongoing due this 'friend' backing out but then to be honest as it stands it is only worth what you paid for it in the beginning. Trying to get your all your money back was optomistic to say the least. Just going by what you had done to date it still needed money spending on it, so a £600 or £700 sale with an unknown bill coming later on isn't a particularly good deal for any potential buyer. If they can run the van with no extra outlay for 11months and then throw the van away then yes it is worth that money but those are the only circumstances to be honest.
This is assuming that they are using the van for work not as simply transport, as a transport only vehicle it is definately NOT worth that cost.

700 is bloody good considering:

Van = 300

Tax = 180

MOT = 50

Plus all the parts provided with it such as timing belt and battery.

There isnt one on ebay at the moment for less with mot and tax.

I could never get my money back as I've spent about 2000 8)

I definately don't agree and your listing makes it sound wonderful, you will have to hope that someone buys it that doesn't come and look afterall we have all seen what it look like underneath. Plus what you have had done. A little economical with the truth as to the previous owners efforts ;)

So you are saying that you have spent £2.5k including the MOT?? and tax etc...frightening. Personally I wouldn't have included the torque wrench in the sale as you will find a use for it later on, if only to correctly set the wheel nuts on your replacement vehicle.

That Haynes manual is the one for all the smileys as well as your older Transit so unless you are jumping to a MK6 you will need that book ;)

I don't recall you asking about the sump plug before but by offering a sump plug in the sale makes it sound as if your fitted one is buggered.

In fact all the parts could be sold as individual sales and the oils and water all used on the replacement vehicle, there must be best part £100 (maybe more) owed on those parts. I know you are fed up with this van but why throw away money for the sake of it?

Simple answer: There wont be a replacement for a long while.

I got two wrenches for the price of one! I'm keeping all the tools I bought as they might be useful in the future.

Until my car is f00ked (2 years old) I have no need for a van.

Insurance £205.80
HPI check £39.95
Van payment £300.00
MOT £44.95
Parts £76.27
Down payment repairs £100.00
Insurance £90.00
Timing Belt kit £23.19
Timing Belt and Fan £64.46
Repairs payment £240.00
Tax £180.00
Ecc Parts £33.00

£1,397.62 total.

But the total costs look more like this:

Insurance £205.80

Gordon Memory £35.81
Insurance Gordon £23.54
Food £20.00

Haynes Manual £12.45
Ford info CD £4.59
Hay £12.00

As for other vans about and value

These are all on just the first 3 pages, so there are sure to be more about, I know I have included a couple of LWB but these I added to show some balance. Your price is too much. But the choice is yours good luck with the sale.
